Description

The Gibraltar Cup was presented by the Commandant General Royal Marines and named from the Battle Honour of that Corps. It is awarded annually to the Royal Marines Cadet Detachment (RMCD) of the Sea Cadets which is considered to have attained the highest standard of all-round merit in the previous year.  

Commandant General of the Royal Marines, Maj Gen PWC Hellings on the Formidable winning the Gibraltar Cup. Maurice Smyth asks about the opposition and the trials to be won in the competition. The Marine Cadet attachment for Formidable did very well for a newly-formed team. Major General Hellings talks about the Cup and the history and the future of the Marines.

General Sir Peter William Cradock Hellings KCB DSC MC (1916-1990) was a Royal Marines officer who became Commandant General Royal Marines.
