The first race of the North Armagh Motorcycle & Car Club (abbreviated: North Armagh MC & CC ) was held on Saturday, April 19, 1958 over a distance of 100 miles - hence the number in the name. For security and organizational reasons as well as because of the increased performance of the participating machines, the distance was repeatedly reduced. Now, depending on the racing class, only four to seven laps are driven on the course, so that a race takes an average of fifteen minutes. It is one of the first races of the Irish road racing season and has always taken place with the exception of 1972, 2001 and 2010. The qualifying on Friday and the race is Saturday. The route is also unchanged. Every year around 120 drivers, some of them well-known, compete and are celebrated by up to 15,000 spectators.
