Description

Maurice Smyth reports for UTV from the Department of Industrial and Forensic Science. He speak to senior scientific officer Donald Budd on the increase in their work for the police, especially in the field of testing for drink driving. At one point Maurice asks the rather unnecessary question of “How impartial are you when you carry out these tests?” “Completely impartial,” is the obvious reply!

Dr John Howard discusses the industrial science side of the department’s work such as metal fatigue. Maurice also talks to James Morgan about the department’s work with road surface testing.
