Description

This single surviving episode of The Young Citizen's Club is an interesting insight into UTV trying to educate schoolchildren on the history and workings of parliament and how laws are made and voted on. Presented by Ernest Strathdee, the programme tries to simplify and demystify the issue of Northern Irish government at Stormont buildings and interviews the Clerk of the Parliament, Major George Thompson, about his duties.

This is an example of how the remit of television at the time was not just to entertain young people but to educate them on the world around them.
