R. Harris interviews US Consul-General, Neil McManus, about the death of Martin Luther King Jr.
Mr McManus “deplores this tragic event” and is sad "about what it reflects regarding a sociological problem at home". He then goes on to describe the reaction of the Ulster people and reads aloud a letter from someone in Belfast passing on their sympathies.
Concluding the interview McManus describes America "as a country which tries - with some success - to cope with problems... we wouldn't sweep them under the carpet and the fact that we have them and try to work with them and have a free press to expand on all these things, is I think an indication of our desire to work with these problems".
