Description

This is one of a number of short pieces marked as UTV Funnies on the film can. It’s uncertain if these short films were ever broadcast as a piece of light-heartedness on a news or magazine programme or if they were for internal viewing only. Nevertheless, this one shows a UTV staff member spoofing the famous Charlie Witherspoon. Charlie often wore a sheepskin coat and employed a catchphrase of “Graveyards tell strange tales,” which is lampooned in this piece with unfortunate consequences for “Charlie” as he reports from beneath the statue of a dog atop a grave.
