Description

UTV news segment on the wedding of the first same-sex couple to be married in Northern Ireland. Robyn Peoples and  Sharni Edwards-Peoples were married in Carrickfergus on their 6 year anniversary. The report also shows a short clip of the first same-sex wedding in the UK which took place in 2014.

Notes

Same-sex marriage has been legal in Northern Ireland since 13 January 2020, following the enactment of the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation etc) Act 2019. The first marriage ceremony took place on 11 February 2020.
