Description

A film by Samuel Bracegirdle, showing a visit to Swinton Castle in Yorkshire. The earl was allowing part of the castle to be used for the Conservative Party Conference in August 1962. The Prime Minister, Harold MacMillan, was in residence for a grouse shoot. 

Notes

Samuel Bracegirdle was an amateur filmmaker from Belfast, his work dates from the 1950s to the 1970s. Many of his films show his home life and holidays with family and friends. He also took an interest in local history and Unionist heritage. 

Harold Macmillan was British Prime Minister from 1957 to 1963.
