Description

A Vox Pop on hanging. The public are divided on it, with many of the younger people being in favour of abolishing it.

The issue of capital punishment had been in the news following the passing of the Murder (Abolition of Death Penalty) Act 1965. This did not include Northern Ireland, where the death penalty remained on the books until 1973. The last execution in Northern Ireland was that of Robert McGladdery in 1961.
