Description

Presented by Gerry Kelly, What Next? provides career advice to school leavers.

For those wanting to go to university, there are practical suggestions, for example, on student accommodation. However, the programme also considers other options, for those who don't intend to pursue further education.

The panel discussion features Robin McAfee, Gabrielle Kelly, Dermot Mullan and David Sommerville, each of whom provides professional support to school leavers. The programme also has a live studio audience, comprising those who have either already gone through the university system or who hope to. A live link with the NW studio in Derry, provides a wider geographic reach.

Topics raised include; help available either through the Training and Employment Agency or with schools, the university clearing system and the notion of a gap year.

This episodes key takeaway was that students should follow their passion and do a course they want to do, rather than picking their course in the hopes of pleasing somene else.
