Description

This interview with an unnamed Machine Gunner from WWI has been edited from a series of interview rushes conducted for With Heart and Hand: Battle of the Somme, a programme commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme. Forming a key part of the mechanisation of warfare, the lethal capabilities of the machine gun are described here in great detail, using a matter-of-fact tone.
