A woman deacon of the Church of Ireland, chats to UTV about the differences that come with the job compared to her male counterparts. As it turns out there are not many, but the main difference is that she cannot give blessings or absolution and where her male colleagues eventually go on to the priesthood, she cannot.
An interview at the end of the footage with a male clergyman, gives insight into what the traditionalist argument is for not agreeing to make women priests, mainly that the woman "could not replicate Christ", however he believes that women are being recognised now in many areas where they hadn't been before.
