Sarah Gavron's award-winning Suffragette (2015) will be showing, for free, as part of the Assembly Women’s Week programme - Monday 07 March to Friday 11 March. Boasting a stellar cast - Carey Mulligan, Meryl Streep, Helena Bonham Carter, Ben Whishaw and Brendan Gleeson, to name but a few - the film depicts the remarkable real-life events and stories of those involved in women's fight for suffrage.
The screeing will be followed by a talk with Helen Pankhurst, great-granddaughter of the suffragette movement's figurehead, Emmeline Pankhurst.
The event takes place on Friday 11 March, at 06:30pm, in the Great Hall, Parliament Buildings, in conjunction with Belfast Film Festival.
