My DFA: A favourite film from the Digital Film Archive

In 2015, Ashley was one of Creative Skillset's first Media Archive Trainees. Through placements with UTV and Northern Ireland Screen, he gained insights into the crucial role played by media archivists and archive technicians in rescuing, preserving and restoring film, TV, and digital media so that future generations can be inspired by the brilliance of our media heritage.
His favourite film is No Country for Old Men (2007), the Coen brothers' adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's novel. Asked to pick his favourite film from the Digital Film Archive, Ashley again looked to a pair of maverick filmmaking brothers, Roy and Noel Spence.
'The Cone Island Project (1974) is a short sci-fi flm written and directed by Northern Ireland’s very own Spence Brothers. The film has a very tongue-in- cheek, David Cronenberg feel. It's that combination of Northern Irish locations and actors with an ultra low budget decor, that gives it such a unique identity.'
