Peatlands Exhibition

Peatlands Exhibition

Date: 13/03/2020 10:42

The Heart of the Glens Landscape Partnership Scheme has produced a comprehensive history of peat, and will take you on a journey through the story from early settlers to the environmental importance of peatlands today.

Sharon Adams, an artist from Cloughmills, presents works inspired by memories of time spent in the moss with her grandfather. Her peat spades are a response to those childhood memories and are part of her longstanding interest in historical tools.

Through the prisms of art and science, artist Sharon Adams and the Heart of the Glens Landscape Partnership explore the significance of peatlands for our environment. This exhibition will feature footage from the Digital Film Archive of turf cutting from the 1950s-1980s.

Search for turf or peat to find more films about our boglands on this website.
Exhibition runs from 14 March to 26 April 2020
