Queer Contemporary Collecting and Campfire Stories

Date: 24/11/2014 14:00

Campfire is a soundscape experience combining archival footage with current queer voices and those of generations past. University of Ulster Cinematic Arts students Em McCaughey, Laurie Crothers and Elizabeth Gibson present a campfire story experience that hears from LGBTQ+ voices using the richness of the Northern Ireland Screen's Digital Film Archive to bridge the conversation from past to present. Gather round the fire and settle in for an immersive audio queer event.

Campfire starts at 3pm it is 60 minutes long. Book your Free ticket on the Foyle Film Festival website: https://foylefilmfestival.org/whats-on/campfire-stories-a-queer-soundscape-experience

Queer Contemporary Collecting is a celebration of local, contemporary queer culture with a special screening and discussion of collected videos from LGBTQIA+ participants on the Northern Ireland Now Project.

This ‘work in progress’ screening and discussion will showcase a selection of video content that participants have brought together, as well as some of their thoughts on the importance of recent LGBTQIA+ history being archived.

Contributions have come from members of the BeU group, organised through Rainbow Project Belfast and the Trans Resource Centre as well as participants from Here NI Belfast and the LGBTQIA+ Heritage Project.

Northern Ireland Now is a contemporary collecting project in partnership with Northern Ireland Screen which addresses underrepresentation in the Digital Film Archive and champions equality, diversity and inclusion.
