Description

The second in the series of interview rushes with WWI veterans conducted as part of With Heart and Hand: Battle of the Somme, a programme commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme.

The clip opens with general views of the trenches and is followed by an interview with Mr Sterritt (or Mr Starrett). Mr Sterritt talks about how he joined the Ulster Division at the age of 16, his first experiences in France and the battle itself. Another veteran remembers the first casualty before the Battle of the Somme.
