Description

This six-part-series, narrated by Raymond Maxwell, looks back at Ireland's contribution to the film industry and envisions how it might look in the future.

Muris Macconghail (The Irish Film Board Chairman), explains how there are several components that make up a total film industry and that the plan over the next four years is to "make sense of this whole thing" and find financial and production partners. This is after John Boorman persuaded the government to buy Ardmore Studios, Irelands first dedicated film studio capable of holding big scale productions. Boorman explains how he became chair of the studio with the understanding that there would be a production fund for making films.

Other topics explored in this penultimate episode are contemporary Irish film makers and the subjects they choose to address, as well as the concept of making movies for television now and not for cinema with Alexander Walker stating that "TV has ceased to be a retirement home for old movies and it's became a cradle for new ones".
