Description

Film of Armagh Gaol, including some shots looking into the back of it and lovely views of Armagh City.

Notes

Armagh Gaol was built in 1760 with some modifications in the 19th century. Although it has mostly housed female prisoners over the years, some male inmates stayed there too. During the Troubles, many convicted terrorists were held here.

The prison closed in 1986 and sadly to date, still stands neglected.

Credits

An Ulster Television Production.
