Description

An order of Bluebell baler twine destined for Oregon, USA is loaded up for cross-Atlantic transportation. Bluebell baler twine was manufactured by the Belfast Ropeworks Company on Bloomfield Avenue in east Belfast.

Thanks to the shipyards, rope manufacturing was a major industry in Belfast. During WWII, the Belfast Ropework Company was the largest in the world, making one third of all the rope and cord used by the Allied Forces.
