Description

Belfast Docks were very busy with all sorts of imports and mostly unloaded by hand for decades. Here, the dockers are unloading and transporting timber.

Notes

There are records of docks in Belfast going back to the 17th century. The port is patrolled by the Belfast Harbour Police, which is one of the oldest constabularies in the British Isles, dating back over 160 years.
