Description

Jill Cochrane guides the discussion surrounding the topic of careers guidance for school children whilst taking questions from the live audience.

The audience ask the panel about vocational education, how best to prepare students for employment, and what employers are looking for in students.

Prof. Peter Daws (University of Ulster), John Campbell (Secretary, Milk Marketing Board N.I.), Alan Hamilton (Headmaster, Glengormley High School), and Don Alexander (Assistant Secretary D.E.D.) make up the panel and respond to these questions whilst putting across their own opinion.

The panel reach a consensus that while in school it is required that pupils build up an attitude suitable for work so that they can survive "in a pretty harsh world" - however, there has also been the programme of an 'extended record of achievement' which has been met with approval from employers
