Description

Cliff Richard was one of the biggest UK pop stars of the late 1950s/early 1960s and remained popular beyond this golden era of his career through each subsequent decade. He was styled as Britain's answer to Elvis - a "heartthrob" singer in the early days of rock and roll and, just like Elvis and many other pop stars of the time, he branched out into a series of successful musical flavoured films on the big screen.

He is seen here arriving in Belfast at the Great Victoria Street railway station and meeting fans ahead of his appearance that night at the nearby ABC cinema where he would be playing alongside his equally famous backing band, The Shadows.
