Description

Footage from the first day of broadcasting from Ulster Television as dignitaries arrive at UTV’s headquarters at Havelock House for the official launch. The UK’s most notable actor of the age, Sir Laurence Olivier, was there to launch the channel onscreen and can be seen rehearsing on the studio floor. Olivier was also a member of the board of directors at the time. The tour of Havelock House for the dignitaries includes a glimpse inside the film library room.
