Description

Long before the era of Rory McIlroy, Northern Ireland had another golfing superstar. Fred Daly from Portrush was the first Irishman to win the Open Championship when it was held in Liverpool at Hoylake. He would go onto finish in the top five on a number of other occasions and represent Great Britain and Ireland in the Ryder Cup in four consecutive tournaments. In 1986 he discussed his career with UTV, also sharing his thoughts on the modern game and then-current greats such as Seve Ballesteros, as well as discussing the relative amounts of prize money between his time and the 1980s.
