Description

Amidst new development for Bangor Marina starting this autumn 2025, Homeplace is a quiet meditation on the past lives that have enjoyed the marina over the decades. A homage to the sea and its omnipresence in Bangor life. It combines archive footage and new iPhone footage captured by Tarah on a daily walk by the water, providing an opportunity for reflection on the place she calls home.

Luke Niblock composed the soundtrack for the film, drawing inspiration from his childhood memories of Bangor. After watching Tarah’s blend of archival and original footage, he developed a main drone motif to capture the sea’s constant motion, then gradually layered additional elements to evoke its shifting moods.

Notes

This film was created for the first Bingham Lane Festival hosted by Seacourt Print Workshop. Seacourt Print Workshop, a cornerstone of Northern Ireland’s arts and cultural scene since 1981, has been in residence in the Old Ulster Bank building in Bangor’s Main Street since 2021. This momentous move back into the city centre ignited a passion and drive for Seacourt to connect with the spaces around them, their neighbours and the people of Bangor. Artists, creatives and music makers took over for one weekend in October, making Bingham Lane and Seacourt come alive with decoration, live music, workshops, craft stalls and much more.
