Description

A wonderful film showing the sights and attractions of Bangor, Co Down during its heyday as a major tourist destination. Footage both inside and outside the famous Barry’s Amusements opens the film before we see tourists arriving at the train station for a day trip to the sea and pedestrians sampling rock and candy floss along the seafront. There is swimming at the Pickie Pool and the exteriors of the old Tonic and Tudor cinemas as well as showbands playing in a local dancehall. Ward Park and a local market are also highlighted before we revisit the train station with its throngs of daytrippers preparing to head home. As the sun sets across the harbour at the end of the day, the director has lined up a girl to stare wistfully across the water!
