Description

Johnny Kidd and the Pirates were a bunch of British rock and rollers, successful in the early 1960s. The lead singer and songwriter was born Frederick Heath and the band went through a number of names including Freddie Heath and the Nutters before having Johnny Kidd and the Pirates foisted upon them by their producer. They had a worldwide hit with Shakin’ All Over which topped the charts in the UK. The eyepatch became part of the image and stage act of the band and Johnny can be seen sporting it as he mooches around the Belfast docks area before hopping on a bus. The band were in town for a concert at the famous Romano’s dancehall.
