Description

Sarah McKenna-Dunne reimagines one of Ireland’s most iconic myths, the story of Macha and Crunnchu. After the loss of his wife, Crunnchu spirals into despair, neglecting his farm and children. One day, a mysterious woman appears, using her extraordinary strength and skills to restore his home and care for his family. Their prosperity restored, Crunnchu is invited to the court of King Conchobar mac Nessa for the Lughnasadh festivities. Warned to keep his wife’s gifts secret, Crunnchu fails and boasts of her abilities, provoking the king’s wrath. This fateful moment sets the stage for The Táin Bó Cúailnge, The Cattle Raid of Cooley, Ireland’s national epic.

Through her compelling storytelling and commanding presence, Sarah McKenna-Dunne brings this ancient legend vividly to life.
