Description

In The Loup in counry Derry, a ceremony commemorating the murder of IRA man Sean Larkin in 1923. Family members and former collegues are present.

Sean Larkin was from Ballinderry and was an anti-treaty IRA Brigadier. He was executed by a Free State Firing Squad in Drumboe, Donegal in 1923.

This event in 1966 was a reaction to the banning of any celebration of the 1916 Rising in Northern Ireland. It was an illegal commemoration and so it’s extraordinary that UTV went to film it.

Credits

An Ulster Television Production.
