Description

Joe Mahon presents this series focused on all things culture in Ulster. This episode is set in Derry/Londonderry on the year of them making history as the first ever UK City of Culture.

Venturing all across the city, Mahon introduces us to some of Derry's star cultural players from Saint Augustines Church which has a long and ancient history as Brien Lacey reveals - to the Strand Road campus where a music workshop is happening. We even venture into the living room of the McCafferty family, who share family photos of their grandfather James McCafferty, a beloved musician who had taught and accompanied many a child who were performing at the Feis Dhoire Cholmcille.

Concluding the programme we hear from Labhrás Ó Murchú, Director of the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, who championed bringing the all Ireland festival to the city as a chance "to express our appreciation to the people in the North of Ireland". Mahon also chats to Sarah about all the exciting events coming up in the city this summer.
