Description

Presenter Joe Mahon visits the town of Virigina in County Cavan and reveals how it got its name from Queen Elzabeth in the early 1600s. He speaks to Niall Dolan at the Virgina Park Estate, who tells him how the town was founded during the Plantation of Ulster period. He then walks through forest trails to the shors of Lough Ramor.

Albert Walker guides Joe around the preparations for the Viriginia Agricultural Show. Catherine Murtagh talks Joe through how to enter in the decorated wellie competition. Gerry Hopkins takes Joe out on Lough Ramor in his rowing boat and tells him about the local fishing. Raymond and Loyola Arnold invite Joe into their crammed hardware store and shares its history. Joe speaks to Catherine again and they are joined by Marion Lyon and Kathleen Duffy to talk about the history of the local branch of the Irish Countrywoman's Association.
