Footage from 1967 of a wargaming exercise in the Lisburn area involving government employees mapping out the drift of nuclear fallout after a hypothetical nuclear attack upon the UK. Members of the Royal Observer Corps are seen taking readings outside a bunker which was located Thiepval Barracks in Lisburn. We also see the collecting of data and readings inside "65 Post" - a monitoring station situated nearby in Drumbo - while others record information on huge glass maps of the British Isles.
The film remains as a chilling reminder of the threat people felt hanging over their daily lives in the 1960s before it became accepted that any nuclear war would result in mutually assured destruction of all life. In 1967 such attacks were still being planned as having at least some chance of being survivable.
