Description

Charles Witherspoon takes to the streets of Belfast for one of UTV's more sobering vox pops of the 1960s. He asks people in the street what they would do if they heard the four minute warning signalling an imminent nuclear strike.

Most people are able to admit that they have no idea what they would do but opinion is split on whether the country should surrender or retaliate. The interviews are a reminder that the threat of nuclear attack did prey constantly on the minds of the populace at the time, just five years after the Cuban Missile Crisis had almost brought about a nuclear war.
