Description

Episode 4 of 5: Politics. One of the most divisive areas of discussion in the series, this episode sees audience members discuss the question of political compromise. It also looks at how the conflict developed between Israel and Palestine, efforts to build a peace process based on the two-state solution, and the purported parallels with Northern Ireland. Audience members ask if its possible to build a real democracy in NI, and if such an institution has ever existed, pointing to the dire state of women's rights, high unemployment rates, poor housing conditions throughout NI, and the continued existence of a segregated school system. How far we've come, eh? John Kelly visits the PLO headquarters (at least, its gates) and remembers King Hussein of Jordan speaking at the funeral of Yitzhak Rabin, assassinated by an enemy of the peace process. The ongoing sketches explore the uneasy relationship between our political selves and our other identities.
