Description

The Daleks invaded Westminster Bridge on television in 1964 but here it is the turn of the UTV cameras in October of that year. These nice sequences of traffic on the bridge with Big Ben in the background were probably shot to accompany an interview with George Brown, Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, and Jo Grimond, Leader of the Liberal Party, about the relationship between the Westminster and Northern Ireland parliaments. Or perhaps were shot for general features on the then forthcoming election in which Harold Wilson’s Labour Party ended thirteen years of Conservative government.
