Description

A report on slum clearance and housing development in Foundry Street on the Newtownards Road. The area is very rundown and as part of the Belfast Corporation plan to develop new housing, it was to be cleared. This is beautiful film of an area now gone. Foundry Street ran from Middlepath St to Fraser St in the Short Strand area.

Charles Witherspoon reports from the street and meets Mrs Jean Oxlade at number 94. She owns her house and she is worried she will not be able to pay off her mortgage now that redevelopment has been brought forward. Charles explains what is happening and how that will affect houseowners.
