Description

Maurice Smyth visits the new Supermac at the top of the Ormeau Road. He gets a preview of the new store, the likes of which has never been seen in Northern Ireland before.  Maurice takes his  new-fangled   trolly  around the shop which seems to sell everything  including a fancy cafĂ©.

Notes

The site for the new Supermac shopping centre would be on the corner of Hillfoot and Saintfield Roads. The developers, Colin and Allen Anderson had worked in the family business of Anderson and McAuley, the famous department store in Belfast city centre. The idea of a shopping centre was a new one at this time.

Although the original building is now gone, the shopping centre still exists and is now known as Forestside.
