The ancestral homestead of President Woodrow Wilson is opened in Dergalt near Strabane. First we see Gray’s printing shop where John Dunlap and James Wilson learnt their trade. John Dunlap would go on to print the American Declaration of Independence and John Wilson was the grandfather of President Wilson.
PM O’Neill welcomes guests of honour at the opening ceremony. These include the Dean of Washingon, the Very Rev Dr Francis B Sayre, grandson of President Wilson, who was actually born in the White House. Also present is Mr Edwin Stark from Chicago, who is a second cousin of the President.
Both the farmhouse and the shop were restored by the National Trust.
