Crowds gather at Murlough Bay for the memorial service for Roger Casement. It was Casement's request that he be buried at this location but following his execution for treason, the British government refused and when Casement’s remains were finally repatriated in 1965, he was buried in the Republican plot in Glasnevin Cemetery. This annual commemoration still takes place. At this commemoration, we see attendees from Africa laying wreaths, most likely as a result of his work in the Congo.
