Description

The very name Gallows Hill conjures up images of somewhere you wouldn’t want to be after dark. Whether or not this played into the minds of the locals of Dungannon to conjure phantoms in their minds is unclear. However, UTV reporter Jimmy Greene attended the scene to speak to eye witnesses who were prepared to testify to ghostly goings-on on the site of the hanging tree.

Jimmy even gets involved in playing the local spectre for a bit of trick photography for the camera, a foreshadowing of his later career as an actor when he left reporting behind. Initially appearing in famous shows of the 1970s such as Colditz and Secret Army, Greene would especially find fame in his later life during the 2000s with a constant stream of small roles in series such as Midsomer Murders, Wolf Hall and Doctor Who. As to the authenticity of the Gallows Hill Apparition… well, we’ll leave that for you to decide.
