Description

Joe Kane welcomes the Spence Brothers into a Fermanagh cottage for a glimpse of life at the open hearth. For generations, rural families lived this way, in cottages that once covered the island. Kane shows how the fire did all the work: the crane, the pot hooks, the kettle and the crow for holding pots. He talks about his childhood beside the hearth. Then he makes scones (with heaps of butter, of course) and pot bread.
