Description

Crowds flood Belfast to catch a glimpse of the Tour of the North cyclists.

The 1957 Tour was won by Stan Brittain, of Phoenix CC Liverpool, a cyclist of repute, who had won silver at the previous year's Olympic games as part of the British Men's Team Road Race. This was Brittain's third victory in this race. The film shows various sections of the race, from the start outside a bustling Belfast City Hall, through numerous streets and towns, all the way to the finish line.

This film was digitised as part of the BFI's Unlocking Film Heritage project.
