Description

Film footage of the work carried out by the Associated Electrical Industries factory at Larne in 1960. The company had originally been set up in the 1920s in England and had prospered throughout the war. In the 1950s, through one of its subsidiary companies, British Thomson-Houston, they decided to open what was to become Europe’s largest turbine generator factory in the port town of Larne. This was officially opened by the Duke of Gloucester in 1957.
