BFI launches Textiles on Film

The BFI has launched Textiles on Film, a collection that explores the long and interwoven relationship between the moving image and the textiles industry:
"From cotton reels to reels of film: with its restless looms, vibrant colours and rich textures, Britain's textiles industry offers cinematic pleasures by the yard."
Amongst the highlights is a film from our archival chums at SWFTA, showing the Plymouth public's reaction to the introduction of the miniskirt.
Closer to home, the collection also includes this stunning colour film, culled from our own Digital Film Archive and showing Belfast's York Street Mill in 1957:
