Emerald Reels by LUMI: Tarrac
Date: 06/10/2023 18:15
Filmed on the breathtaking landscapes of Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, Tarrac is an Irish-language drama about a grieving woman who finds herself drawn back into her local rowing team.
Aoife Ni Bhraoin (Kelly Gough) returns home to help her father Brendan ‘The Bear’ O’Briain (Lorcan Cranitch) in his recovery from a heart attack. Also facing the grief of her mother’s death, Aoife deals with it by reacquainting herself with a team of all-female rowers who, against the odds, take on a high stakes Naomhóg rowing competition.
Laced with humour, heartbreak and exciting action, Tarrac is the story of a place where the weather and the people have a mind of their own and of a woman who through a sporting passion finally manages acceptance and love.
The screening on Fri 6 October at 6.15pm is part of LUMI’s Emerald Reels, highlighting Irish cinema at QFT. This special screening will include an introduction by LUMI Programmers, an accompanying short film created with footage from the Digital Film Archive and accompanying brochure for Emerald Reels films.
