Some 87 years to this day, the foundation stone of the Parliament and Administrative Buildings of Stormont was laid by the Duke of Abercorn.
This article from the day's Belfast Telegraph captures the pomp and ceremony that attended proceedings, an event the paper described as one which "would stand out as a landmark in Ulster history".
Built at the, then princely, sum of £500,000, the seat of the Northern Ireland government would be officially opened, by HRH Prince of Wales, a little over four years later, in November 1932.
