Description

It might seem strange today that the wedding of the Queen’s cousin, Princess Alexandra, should attract such attention, but at the time it was the biggest display of royal pomp and pageantry since the Coronation a decade earlier. The television coverage of the event graced the front of that week’s Radio Times and, as can be demonstrated in this footage, people cared enough about it to watch it in pubs and to crowd around television sets in shop windows if they were out in the streets.
