Description

An Ulster Television news compilation of engagements carried out by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother during her visit to Northern Ireland in April 1962. During this five day trip, from 3 to 7 April, the Queen Mother visited Omagh to inspect the 9/12 Royal Lancers, of which she was Colonel in Chief, and also arrived in the Co Fermanagh town of Enniskillen to celebrate the 350th anniversary of the granting of its Royal Charter. A keen fan of horse racing, she also found time to indulge this passion by visiting a race meet at the Down Royal racecourse in Downpatrick. A separate report on the Queen Mother’s opening of a new science wing at Queen’s University Belfast can also be found in this collection.
