Description

UTV’s roving reporter Charlie Witherspoon was famous for telling strange and unusual tales from graveyards he had uncovered on his travels. In this Christmas ghost tale, filmed for Seven Degrees West, Charlie tells one of his strangest yet – the story of Henry Hamilton O’Hara, the last Squire of Crebilly Castle. Charlie visits Ballymarlow churchyard, near Ballymena, to tell the tale of a ne’er do well rogue who squandered his money in London and treated his wife appallingly. When he died his remains where brought back to Co Antrim where he is said to ride out of his grave on a ghost horse every Christmas Eve and gallop back to his castle. Joining in the telling of the tale was Robert Simpson, MP, a native of Crebilly.
